Thurisaz
I care deeply; love deeply; live deeply. My anger is the custodian of love and kindness. The steward of my soul. The part of me that says no, even when it is hard. Even when desire stirs me toward gentleness, anger holds my crown. It says gentle and fierce, loving and powerful. I can be the bridge where force and form unite.
I am anger, because anger is the guardian of love. Anger defends my right to be messy; to get it wrong; to stand up again and again. To be carbon-hardened to diamond. To fall, fail, fail better, fail faster. To have compassion for all who strive. To know that in our secret hearts we all crave love, in its many, myriad forms.
I want to live. I want to taste it all. Even the bitter grief — I defend even that. Anger is the antidote to the death of the soul. My rage desires to be respected, as I seek to respect others. To be treated as human in all my complexities. To never be denied my divine right — your divine right — to the edge. To dream right to the ending. To love from the pit of my stomach. To live with such intensity my breath becomes a blade and my skin a fibrous tapestry of awareness.
Let me not numb myself. Let me feel it all.
This is how to honour it: through journalling like this that lets desire expand into conscious awareness. Through not looking away. Through asking for feedback; giving feedback honestly. Daring, always, to be a better human. Understanding, exploring, creating, fizzing, living, laughing.
I am the sovereign of my safety and my pleasure. I am the author of my soul and the curator of my life path. Accept the fear. Move through it. Move into what truly makes you live. Use the old Dune mantra — fear is the mind-killer.
Create prayers that form channels through which your rage is poured; and, as it cools, the wisdom held within is revealed. Create the channels. Use them. Let the routine of ritual become a conduit of transformation.

The old story of freedom no longer fits
The Full Moon in Thurisaz wild voice writing prompts — from which this piece was channelled — are available now inside Sunna’s Star Wheel for those who wish to explore this rune through devotional writing and ritual.
You can also watch the accompanying video, Shaping through Thurisaz, where I explore this rune as a living force of boundary, sovereignty, and creative fire.
Very much looking forward to the full moon meditation for this one – although I always enjoy the wild voice writing. I find it very freeing so thank you for introducing me to it Maggie 😊
My absolute pleasure
I’m new to working with runes, but when I drew Thurisaz today I did some research and came upon your video. The chanting was so helpful. I feel a greater sense of peace and serenity–welcome healing after a bout of chaotic destabilizing energy. Thank you!
My absolute pleasure – I am so glad it was helpful Melissa.
