Top tips for Sages
- Treasure yourself as the keeper of ancestral, community and corporate memory.
- Your critical faculty is part of your magic; resist efforts on the part of others to stop you asking the questions or checking facts – they will thank you in the long term.
- Keep an eye on the balance between the quantity of general knowledge and the quality of specialist knowledge you possess. Both are valuable, know your worth.
- Strive to activate your learning by identifying not just what information you’ve taken in but what that information means to you.
- If you notice people asking you to keep records, remember facts, check details and recount stories remember this is a sign of your worth and only those who value it get to have it.
…and remember that mastery of the other pathways can substantively enhance your magic and protect you from some of the dangers of relying too heavily on one path alone. For Sages this means increased access to creativity, opportunism, persuasiveness and a healthy dose of wonder and wickedness. The other pathways help you express your knowledge and expertise more powerfully, counter a tendency to over-research your field, get stuck in your head and under-estimate yourself.
Sages as leaders
Sages lead from expertise and accumulated knowledge. They provide the rock solid foundations for all professions as they ensure the knowledge of predecessors is respected, used and passed on. They are exceptional communicators and work tirelessly to understand their people and the mechanics of their workplaces and vocation.
The leadership potential of the sage is diminished when their valid questions are dismissed or their requirement for clarity is labelled as petty or insignificant.

The magical grimoire, the journal detailing personal responses to the turning wheel of the seasons, star charts, healing recipes and preserved ancestral wisdom are the realm of the Sage. It is easy to forget the miracle of writing. The way it allows knowledge to pass through time and space. The way it holds story, preserves truth and shapes chaos into order. Sages have the discipline to record not just what worked but what didn’t so that others may benefit and valuable lessons are not lost.

If you haven’t met me before my name is Maggie Rose Cunningham. I am a coach, trainer and northern European shamanic practitioner.
I work with seriously magical humans: empaths, intuitives, visionaries, sensitives, manifestors. Some run magical businesses, others are leaders, executives and experts in academic, charitable and government organisations. My clients come from around the globe with one shared desire: to explore, express and even more fully embrace their magic.
After 25 years running two parallel careers in Higher Education and spiritual development respectively I decided enough was enough. The world might not have been ready for me – but I was ready for it. I now work helping magical humans live powerful, purposeful lives that are making a real, sustainable difference for our people and planet.
