I wasn’t looking for the runes. I found them the way you find something you’d forgotten you already knew.
Years before I ever calculated a birth rune, I sat in a shamanic circle and received a power song — a name I sang without knowing what it meant. I kept it, it felt good, but I could find no meaning behind it.
Then I read the old tale of Helgi — the Nornir stretching golden threads across the hall of the moon the night he was born. It became a knot in the web I kept worrying at. This is the weaving of the birth runes, I thought. This is a tiny fragment of something much larger, waiting beneath the surface of remembering.
Later, I calculated my own birth runes for the first time. My four Hero Maker runes, plus Isa — the rune of the self. They spelt out the name. The one I had been singing for years.
I don’t tell you this to convince you of anything mystical. I tell you because it’s the reason I work with this precision — birth runes aren’t a symbol you pick because it resonates. They’re already there, whether you’ve met them yet or not.

A birth runes practitioner
Your Sun rune makes up one of, what I refer to as, your Hero Makers. The Hero Makers are your First Thread, Sun rune, Lunar rune and Nornir’s gift plus your North and South node. They were set by the Nornir who oversee the fates of all the worlds. They draw out your mightiest purpose: the longed-for destiny of your soul’s essence. I recommend working with them next.
Once your Hero Makers are set your personal Disir take up the threads. These are your ancestral circle of guardian spirits whose role it is to protect and nurture you. Often viewed as manifestations of the divine feminine their gatherings stretch far beyond your direct ancestors to include those who walked your land before you, share your purpose, interests or calling. They can also be spirit beings, animals, goddesses and any being who resonates with the energy of unconditional, abiding love towards you. They watch the skies and draw down the energy of the constellations and planets into your soul tapestry. I call the runes they weave into your fate the Soul Singers.
Each of your Birth Runes is set within the energies of a deity’s Hall and a Hearth of the Asyniur (handmaiden’s of Frigga). These add subtle nuances to your birth runes reading which are covered in all my birth runes reports and can be explored with me through 1-2-1 sessions.
Every rune placement is so well explained, and each one is a potential portal into deeper study - I expect I could spend years exploring them, which is really exciting!
