So how do you begin?
✨ Three Steps to Begin Rune Reading
1. Build Your Kenning Hoard
Your kenning hoard is your personal storehouse of rune wisdom — not just what you learn, but what you remember.
Images, phrases, poetry, sensation, colour, memory. The runes already live at the edges of your knowing. Your kenning hoard draws them in.

Kenning means ‘a poetic-description’; it links directly to the rune Kenaz meaning knowledge, torch or enlightenment.
‘Sea-bark’, is an Anglo-Saxon kenning for ice. Your kenning hoard is your store of knowledge about the runes – as it grows it moves from the conscious into the subconscious, the physical body and the energy body. It meets and combines with knowledge you already have, even if you don’t know it, about the runes – after all, they are the roots of many languages including English. This is the store of your Sage which your Seer then draws upon when you read.
2. Develop your Seer
Seership isn’t a skill reserved for the oracles of the past — it’s something we all carry.
Your Seer self is the part of you that knows. It tunes into resonance, listens beneath the noise, and aligns your path with what is true.
To begin developing your Seer’s skillset, ask:
What language does my Seer speak?
Do you see inner visions, symbols, movements?
Do you hear words or tones?
Do you feel energy, sense shifts, taste or smell something unexpected?
Or does deep knowing simply rise up — calm and certain?
Recognising how your Seer communicates is the first step to trusting what you receive.
3. Learn to Cast and Read
There’s no single “correct” way to read runes. You can:
Cast on a cloth
Lay out a spread
Ask for signs in nature
Receive messages through dream or trance
Start simple. Try a single-rune draw each morning, or explore my beginners library of rune spreads.
