What it takes to follow your dream

Following a dream means being misunderstood. It means going against the grain. It means disrupting other people, interrupting their comfortable existence. It means holding on to something no one else can see, touch, taste, measure or   label. It means feeling unsafe and feeling excited. It means mattering.

In 2020 I didn’t know what my dream was. I just knew it was out there and I needed to find it. For my health, for my family, for the people I wanted to be with and to wake up every day thinking about. Unwrapping that dream, building it piece by piece, tweaking a bit here, re-balancing a bit there. Here are the 3 things I now KNOW, from the top of my head to the tips of my toes I need to have to keep building my business as the expression of my dream:

  1. People who believe in me and see me, no matter what work I’m doing in the world
  2. The right mentors, trainers and champions. People who have walked the same landscape, seen the same big vision. People who give me that little twinge of envy, because that’s the signal they have something to teach me.
  3. Connection to the voice inside that guides MY path, no matter how enticing someone else’s path, way or dream might look.

My quest for my dream has connected me to so many people who believe in me, can teach me and hold a space lovingly enough for me to speak from the core of all that is vulnerable and visionary within. One of those people is Kate Wolf. A wise mentor and a dear friend. I came to her to find my voice and found so much more. This Wednesday Kate is celebrating the 8th anniversary of her business by bringing together a group of amazing, caring, business owners sharing what it took.  The whole event is free to attend and represents an absolute gold mine of wisdom and inspiration. What’s more, I will be hosting a Wild Voice ™ class at 10:30am as part of the celebrations! Because I discovered, through finding my wild voice with Kate that my work in the world includes helping others find theirs.
