“We can look to those who have come before but, ultimately, they have already walked their path and now you must walk yours. Listen and they will speak. Ask and they will answer. You are never alone but only you can make the difference that is yours to offer in this lifetime. ” Read on for more wisdom from Frigg’s Chariot in Othala, and the other planetary movements taking place this week.
As always, Middle Earth Readings for the week is published at the bottom of the page after the live event.

Sunna’s Chariot (the Sun) in Fehu (the rune of life force, cattle and wealth) invites us into the opulent splendour of life. It is the warm flow of your blood, the sun on your back, the glint of gold on the sea, the electricity between lovers and the abundance of the earth mothers. The half month of Fehu is an excellent time to start (or renew) a daily practice of gratitude and giving. Focus on the small things: a call to a friend, a donation of time; buying ethically; blessing the food you prepare for others. Fehu is the first rune in the Elder Futhark symbolising a renewal of the runic wheel, a new cycle starts at the rune’s highest point: midsummer.

Manni’s Chariot (the Moon) moves through one rune approximately every 24 hours. The edge of the new Moon is as a scythe cutting through what has come before and reaching towards desire, hope and purpose. It forms a moment for release, clarity and intention setting. Manni’s Chariot in Fehu speaks of the excitement of initiating the new and the luck that often showers down upon us at the very beginning of a venture. Seize the moment, move forward with trust and an open heart. As time progresses remember this new, bright energy can sometimes get lost beneath the weight of our hopes. Wear the crown lightly for our willingness to accept the hand we are dealt in the moment dictates our ability to play to our greatest ability.

Frigg’s Chariot (Roman equivalent Venus) in Othala reminds us that, however unready, unworthy or untested we feel, every one of us is already a custodian of hearth, land and legacy. Othala is the rune of estate, inheritance and ancestry. Frigg, the Queen of Heaven calls each of us to step up and be counted. We can look to those who have come before but, ultimately, they have already walked their path and now you must walk yours. Listen and they will speak. Ask and they will answer. You are never alone but only you can make the difference that is yours to offer in this lifetime. Frigg’s Chariot in Othala also reminds us that, as well as looking forward, sometimes it is our gift to heal the wounds of past and bring peace to those who have sacrificed, suffered or strayed.

Odin’s Chariot (Roman equivalent Mercury) in Dagaz brings new awareness of what is holding you back. Limiting beliefs, the dead-weight of old emotions, wounds that need to heal. We are all familiar with the child who wants the light left on because they are afraid of the darkness. In adult life we play this out by ignoring, repressing and denying. Odin reminds us that when the light goes out the darkness is still there. Breathe. Let your eyes adjust and open to what is quietly waiting for you. Often it is power, hidden beneath pain or fear. Beneath the conditioned shell that keeps you safe lies the beating hard that sets you free.

We are currently in the half month of Fehu, a rune representing life force and wealth. Its negative aspects are those of possessiveness, jealousy and hoarding. When channelling the energy of Fehu remember the principle of flow and giving. Any form of avarice will corrupt its energy.
