“The retreat within, to the place of self-knowledge, freedom and dreaming is necessary just as necessary as the expressive, directing, manifesting work without. ” Read on for more wisdom from Frigg’s Chariot in Laguz, and the other planetary movements taking place this week.

As always, Middle Earth Readings for the week is published at the bottom of the page after the live event.

Manni’s Chariot (the Moon ) moves through one rune approximately every 24 hours.  The edge of the new Moon is as a scythe cutting through what has come before and reaching towards desire, hope and purpose.  It forms a moment for release, clarity and intention setting.  Manni’s Chariot in Laguz calls us to reach towards the light.  This is a great time to begin new projects, initiate new intentions and start new habits.  Let the waters of Laguz carry away what is holding you back and bring life, renewal and growth to your hopes and dreams.

Frigg’s Chariot (Roman equivalent Venus) in Laguz brings forth magic, intuition and wisdom.  Laguz is the rune of water and life.  It is a gateway between worlds.  After the ritual of the drinking Hall, the bustle of work and the ceremony of sovereignty the Goddess Frigg retires to her chamber.  There she is said to spin the stuff of Wyrd itself; the raw material from which fate is written.  Frigg knows that there are many forms of power and she reminds us that the retreat within, to the place of self-knowledge, freedom and dreaming is necessary just as necessary as the expressive, directing, manifesting work without.

Tyr’s Chariot (Roman equivalent Mars) in Ehwaz encourages us to face the griefs, hurts and disappointments of the past. Not just those we have suffered, but those that have caused our enemies to suffer. Not just disappointment in others, but disappointment in ourselves. Not just that which is easy to forgive, that which is difficult and challenging. In the past our ancestors fought each other to survive. The game has changed. Now our survival depends on partnership. Only the bravest have the courage

We are currently in the half month of Othala, a rune that speaks of both individual and collective inheritance. Othala is also the burial mound where wisdom may be sought from those who came before us.
