“Ever noticed that the cleverest animals can also be the cruelest? The trickster does, indeed, have two sides. The only way to influence which side lands face up is to recognise you are the coin.” Read on for more wisdom from Odin’s Chariot in Berkano this week.

As always, Middle Earth Readings for the week is published at the bottom of the page after the live event.

Odin’s Chariot in Berkano calls forth the partnership of Odin and Loki bringing out the trickster energy in both these formidable deities.  Odin is wily, cunning and crafty whilst Loki is changeable, quick-silver, rude and treacherous.  Who can speak truth to a King but the trickster?  Who alleviates suffering with healing laughter?  Who pulls us down when our egos have become too inflated?  The trickster is an essential part of each of us.  He/ she opens us to creativity, healing, play and cunning.  Ever noticed that the cleverest animals can also be the cruelest?  The trickster does, indeed, have two sides.  The only way to influence which side lands face up is to recognise you are the coin.

We are currently in the half month of Berkano, a rune of spring. The two triangles that make up the rune also speak of duality; in this case the ‘womb and the tomb’ – the earth that gives life is also the cave to which we return upon death.
