Birth Runes: A Soul Journey

From the moment the umbilical cord is severed tendrils of wyrd invite our precious, newly birthed souls to forget their singular course. Here is your name, this is who you are. Here is your family, this is who you are. Here is your tongue. Your land. Your tribe. Your culture. Your preference. Your duty. We are woven into the every day existence of being human. Bright threads, bold threads, frayed threads, old threads. This is the way, the weaving, the wounding. What it means to be human. To belong, to feel seen, to feel safe. To become part of a beautiful, complicated, collective story. The great ocean of wyrd absorbing the silver streams of our becoming, emerging souls.

This March I invite you to join me in a soul journey back into that moment of your birth. Your Disir circle gather round, a Norn draws close, mistress of fate. Together they witness. They hear the song of the stars, planets and earth vibrating through the runic wheel. For some of us they even interfere, prolonging the labours or shortening them to guide your soul to its greatest, brightest destiny. They heard they song and they captured it within the threads. Golden threads strung across the vault of the Moon. Your birth runes, woven together to offer a way back into the essence of self. A re-connection to the threads that are yours, and yours alone. Not better, or worse, than the rest of the tapestry of being unfolding all around you – but yours.

The elves whisper that human children are born awake. Shining and alive before the noise of the tribe, the weaving of the world and the legacy of the ages enfold them, lulling them into the dream that is growing up and getting on. If you are reading this I suspect that, like me, some rite of passage, some spiritual enlightenment or transformative illness stopped you sleeping. Offered a glimpse of worlds beyond worlds, woke you to what lies beyond the veils. One of those things is, of course, you. A mythic being, a journeying, re-birthing soul. Connecting to your birth runes is connecting to yourself.
