Here’s your weekly update on what planetary movements are coming up. As always, Middle Earth Readings for the week is published at the bottom of the page after the live event.

Manni’s Chariot (the Moon) moves through one rune approximately every 24 hours. The edge of the new Moon is as a scythe cutting through what has come before and reaching towards desire, hope and purpose. It forms a moment for release, clarity and intention setting. Manni’s Chariot in Algiz reminds us that when we connect to the rhythms of nature we connect to the heartbeat of the divine. Too many of us are shackled to mechanical time, driven by deadlines, enslaved to production. The first step to reclaiming our cyclical natures is to pay attention. Open the door to see what the weather is doing, walk the land day-by-day, greet the Sun when you wake, open to the wisdom of the ever-changing Moon.

Thor, the mighty guardian of Middle Earth wields his hammer in defence of the human world. Courageously, selflessly and sometimes rashly. The rune Teiwaz, calls forth victory, truth and action as Thor’s Chariot (Roman equivalent Jupiter speeds through its sphere). When Odin calls Thor is first to stand. His strength is such that, he alone among the Gods, can cross the river that bands Asgard without the aid of the Bifrost bridge. He is an unstoppable force. Does he mess up? Yes. Does he stand in judgement? Yes, but of the deeds, never of the intentions in his heart.

There is that which is born, and that which is made. That which lives, acts and chooses and that which becomes through the intention of its crafting. Tyr’s Chariot (Roman equivalent Mars) in Eihwaz speaks of the weaving together of who we are with who we will ourselves to be. Our ancestors loved to riddle; their language was rich with kennings (poetic descriptions). Behind the kenning of the sword-arm is the intention to battle, behind the gallows-tree is the intention to slay, behind the oath-ring is the intention to rule. What names have you claimed for yourself, what roles have you taken on which now determine your destiny? Tyr invites us to take stock of who we are and take responsibility for who we choose to become.

We are currently in the half month of Algiz, a rune of great blessing, it symbolises protection and defence. Algiz connects us to the Gods. It is an excellent rune for journeying and can guide us safely both up and down the World Tree to the many worlds and places housed within its roots and branches.
