Here’s your weekly update on what planetary movements are coming up. As always, Middle Earth Readings for the week is published at the bottom of the page after the live event.
Sunna’s Chariot (the Sun) in Fehu (the rune of life force, cattle and wealth) invites us into the opulent splendour of life. It is the warm flow of your blood, the sun on your back, the glint of gold on the sea, the electricity between lovers and the abundance of the earth mothers. The half month of Fehu is an excellent time to start (or renew) a daily practice of gratitude and giving. Focus on the small things: a call to a friend, a donation of time; buying ethically; blessing the food you prepare for others. Fehu is the first rune in the Elder Futhark symbolising a renewal of the runic wheel, a new cycle starts at the rune’s highest point: midsummer.
Frigg’s Chariot (Roman equivalent Venus) in Thurisaz, the rune of the thorn, the giant and power speaks of the difference between a tolerable life and a passionate one. Passion leads us both to soar and to despair but never to indifference. It connects us to our emotions and our instincts. It guides us to do crazy, crazy things but it never asks us to simply look away or numb ourselves to the voice of the soul. If the northern gods know how to do one thing really well, it is to live passionately. Drink deeply, love truly, step forward boldly. The world will be forged anew by passionate humans following the song of their hearts.
This week we move into the half month of Fehu, a sensual rune. The energy of Fehu is one of motion and vitality. If I know one thing about Fehu energy it is that it must be in motion. It must flow, it must have ‘currency’. Stagnant, still Fehu becomes the dragon hoarding gold that has become tainted through misuse and possessiveness.
