Here’s your weekly update on what planetary movements are coming up. This week is busy with 4 planetary movements for us to explore and Loki’s Chariot going into retrograde on the 25th. As always, Middle Earth Readings for the week is published at the bottom of the page after the live event.
Manni’s Chariot (the Moon ) moves through one rune approximately every 24 hours. The potency of the Full Moon energy is like a high tide leaving tracks in the sand as it departs – it forms a current over the coming month. Manni’s Chariot in Nauthiz (the rune of desire, necessity and the need fire) brings passion and intensity of feeling. It accentuates longings and emotions which can feel both magnificent and uncomfortable depending on your circumstances. This full moon offers a moment to acknowledge hidden desires, release pain and experience deep pleasure. Express yourself fully and without constraint as the Moon flowers – the tide you unleash will carry you forward through this month.
Frigg’s Chariot (Roman equivalent Venus) in Dagaz speaks of the seership skills of the Goddess Frigg. She is known for her second sight and the great tragedy of her life is foretelling the death of her son but not being able to avert it. All great teachers instruct through doing more than telling. Their enthusiasm, passion, commitment and integrity are just as powerful as their knowledge. Frigg’s Chariot asks you to consider how you share your gifts and knowledge with the world. What is your intention in doing so? Do you know when to support and when to challenge? Do you choose wisely when you instruct and when you hold back knowing the journey is not yours to take.
Sunna’s Chariot (the Sun) in Othala (the rune of estate, legacy and the ancestors) invites us to remember, at the point when life is blooming, how each moment connects into a wider cycle. Honour your land as it prepares for the harvest. Honour the ancestors on whose shoulders we stand. Songs and gifts to the dead are particularly powerful at this time. We often honour the dead when light and life are fading from the world. Perhaps we fear they will be jealous of the sweet gift of life? Perhaps we are simply too busy? The half month of Othala offers a precious moment to give thanks and remembrance for the gifts of the year and the ages. The Disir hold the gateways between the worlds open so that wisdom, healing and love may flow through and nourish the worlds and all the souls shining within them.
Tyr’s Chariot (Roman equivalent Venus) in Uruz speaks of the strength we discover in ourselves when we are tested. Tyr is the God of victory but he is also known for his spiritual integrity and willingness to sacrifice himself for the greater good. Uruz is the rune of the aurochs hunted to extinction long ago. In one truth it will always be a symbol of the harm human beings have caused to the planet and the species we share it with. In another truth it becomes the turning point from which we learn the preciousness of life and begin the process of creating a new path of co-existence. Success is not forged in a single moment, it is the meaning we create in every moment of our lives and the action we take as a result. Warriors can no longer prove themselves in a fight to the death with the mighty aurochs. How will you prove yourself today? What will you stand for?
This week we move into the half month of Othala, a rune that speaks of both individual and collective inheritance. It is the land of the ancestors, the homestead and all inherited wealth. It is the traits passed down through our DNA, our language and our culture. Work with Othala is the first step towards understanding and making peace with our inheritance. Find out more on Othala here.
