Elder Futhark

‘Futhark’ is the literal equivalent of the word ‘Alphabet’, the latter being a combination of Alpha and Beta, and the former being a combination of Fehu, Uruz, Thurisaz, Ansuz, Raidho and Kenaz (the first five letters of the Elder Futhark).  The Elder Futhark is the oldest rune alphabet, with inscriptions dating back to 150CE, it has 24 letters which are divided into three equal rows known as aetts.  The Elder Futhark is the most commonly used rune set today and you can normally (but not always) assume that, unless stated otherwise, a person is talking about the Elder Futhark when discussing their runes.

My pages about the individual runes are intended to provide explorations, meditations and ruminations on the individual runes rather than a list of correspondences.  At the end of each page you will find links to websites which give thorough correspondences for each rune as well as links to music, pictures, tutorials and other resources which I have found helpful or inspiring.
